We all come to kratom for different reasons and it always involves more than an ounce of hope and a leap of faith on our parts. All too often, I talk to my friends in the kratom community and hear about how they got burned by some shady fly-by-night operation peddling weak ass kratom product.

This has been true in the case of Kratom Eye, Moon Kratom and many others who have been active in the M. speciosa space.

We’ve logged a lot of hours on this blog talking about shady kratom vendors, but it’s important to note that it’s not always a vendor’s fault when a customer is dissatisfied with the kratom powder they receive. Sometimes, it comes down to the kratom user failing to do their research.

In other words, the consumer may not be knowledgeable about the difference between kratom strains and the effects they potentiate. I’ve heard from more than one reader who said that they were disappointed with the Bali kratom they bought off an online vendor.

I’d ask them, “What was wrong with it?” And the answer I’d get would invariably be, “It just wasn’t very strong.”

Therein lies the problem; expectations are everything and when your expectations aren’t managed, you can point the finger at the wrong person…instead of pointing the finger at yourself.

You see, Bali is a notoriously mild kratom strain. Unless you’re using Super Enhanced Bali, you’re unlikely to be wowed by it in the way that, say, Green Malaysian which has more active alkaloids and is, therefore, far more uplifting.

Bali is “weak” by comparison because it’s primarily driven by its 7-hydroxymitragynine content which makes for heavy sedative effects. So, if you’re looking to be stimulated, Bali might let you down, but it’s not a matter of bad management or bogus advertising on the part of the kratom vendor you buy it from, it’s just the nature of the red vein Bali kratom leaves.

The same can be said of any kratom strain. They all have their own unique properties and their own very distinct effects. Maeng da is a best seller here at Kratom Crazy and we’ve gotten plenty of feedback from consumers about the effects they’ve experienced.

To help manage the expectations I mentioned above, we’ve compiled this comprehensive list of Maeng da’s various effects across the green, white and red veins. This should serve to help our readers differentiate between these extremely disparate kratom strains and find the kratom powder that’s right for their needs.

Let’s hit it!

Green Maeng da is, perhaps, the most well-known variety of Maeng da kratom and, without a doubt, the most popular. Its effects can be best described as a medley of Mitragyna speciosa’s best benefits. If it were music, it would be kratom’s greatest hits.

Because it contains more active alkaloids and flavonoids than other strains, it may potentiate a wide spectrum of potential effects. These alkaloids can produce an increase in energy, enhancement of one’s mood, significant analgesia (pain relief) and substantial stimulation. So, for all of you Bali haters who feel like you got ripped off with a Red Bali bag, grab yourself a pouch of Green Maeng da and you’ll be amped up.

It’s always imperative to note the prospective down sides of a kratom strain. In certain doses, specifically at a dosage in excess of 6 grams, kratom can lead to some undesirable effects. Green Maeng da’s adverse effects can include the following:

  • Anxiety
  • Agitation
  • Dizziness
  • Lightheadedness
  • Lethargy
  • Nausea
  • Sleeplessness

Most of these side effects are rare and there is little evidence to suggest that kratom is dangerous when taken responsibly. For the best results, users should always stick to a low to moderate dose (2-5 grams). A heavy dosage is generally considered to fall within the range of 6-8 grams.

The ideal threshold dose is just 1 gram, but the seasoned kratom user can usually take 2 grams to start out with and build from there. It is highly advisable to cycle your doses, taking kratom no more than 2 days back-to-back before discontinuing use for 2-3 days after the fact.

One of the most potent strains available, White Maeng da kratom is a unique subtype of the Maeng da family. Indigenous to Thailand, white vein Maeng da kratom is renowned for the sense of well-being it is able to instill in those who use it as a medicinal herb.

Those who are into nootropics love White Maeng da’s ability to improve concentration and stimulate thought. Delivering cognitive support while, simultaneously, relaxing the user, White Maeng da is the perfect strain for the person who wants to be more sociable and less anxious. It is known to make one more confident as well as more focused.

People have used White Maeng da to treat depression, anxiety, mood disorders and memory problems. It has the potential to relieve fatigue, improve one’s social cues and increase stamina.

Those who abuse White Maeng da or take doses in excess of 6 grams may experience some or all of the following side effects:

  • Lethargy
  • Apoplexy
  • Stomach problems
  • Sleeplessness
  • Lightheadedness
  • Respiratory problems

It should be noted that respiratory issues have only occurred in the most extreme of circumstances, typically when a user takes more than 10 grams of kratom powder.

If you’re anything like me and you came to kratom because of its analgesic properties, Red Maeng da is where it’s at. This one exhibits powerful analgesic effects which can last for up to 4 hours per dose. When a buddy comes to me with a repetitive sports injury or throws his back out on the job, I always recommend Red Maeng da for their inflammation and chronic pain.

As with the other Maeng da kratom strains, Red Maeng da delivers an energy boost, mild stimulation and serious pain relief. There’s a vast array of potential benefits including antioxidant properties and possible aphrodisiac effects. If you’re looking to get your Mojo rising, Red Maeng da might do the trick.

Red vein Maeng da kratom doesn’t differ wildly from the other Maeng da strains. It can cause sleep disturbance, dizziness, fatigue and nausea at high doses. Other side effects may include the following:

  • Anxiety
  • Irritation
  • Stomach problems
  • Tiredness
  • Restless legs

All of these kratom strains are viable options for those looking to study a research chemical with possible analgesic (pain relief) and anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) properties. Always use with caution and in moderate doses. Be safe, be smart and be well. Happy kbombing, boys and girls.
