Canopy Botanicals: Is This Vendor Legit?

August 09, 2018 Articles, Kratom Reviews, Kratom Strains

Many of you may know that tea was the first beverage to be considered a medicinal drink. Long before people were chugging Naked Juice for its antioxidants, folks were brewing up tea to soothe their mood, calm their nerves and reduce their risk of heart attack.

In recent years, many Americans have discovered kratom tea and its purported benefits. Some brew kratom tea to relieve joint inflammation or, simply, to chill out after a stressful day at work. Unlike traditional tea, kratom does not contain caffeine. Although it does come from the coffee family of plants which accounts for its stimulating effects.

No one understands the value of kratom tea more than vendors like Canopy Botanicals who list their kratom products as tea on their website. But is Canopy Botanicals a legit vendor or just another shady fly-by-night operation?

Let’s take a good long look at what they’re all about. Here we’ll do a deep dive on their website and evaluate this company based on product line, price point, consumer reputation and more.

CANOPY BOTANICALS REVIEW

Whereas some vendors only offer a select few kratom strains and that’s it, Canopy Botanicals stand by their name by providing their customers with a wealth of different artisanal products. As e-commerce sites go, few offer the variety one can find here.

This Texas-based company incentivizes their customer base with frequent offers of free shipping and other discounts in addition to their already fair pricing.

Their website boasts a modest and professional design and comes replete with an easy-to-navigate menu. Use their search bar to find the kratom strain or other botanical you are looking for.

WHAT HAVE THEY GOT?

In short, everything but the kitchen sink can be found at their online store. Whether you’re in the market for teas, spices, seasonings or handmade soaps. I’ve been very impressed with their unique concoctions like their Pink Elephant Blend and their Maplewood Bacon tea.

The usual suspects are present, such as Green Maeng Da and Red Maeng Da, but they’ve also got stuff like their Limited Harvest Gold Maeng Da and the Cherry Bomb Enhanced Blend. Blends are not always the greatest choice when shopping for kratom because it isn’t common to get two or more strains that conflict with each other, so for this reason, I’m on the fence when it comes to their proprietary stuff.

On the other hand, their Gold Maeng Da is some of the best I’ve sampled. It’s both euphoric and analgesic, quickly relieving back pain and fatigue. Those who want to get their hands on some would do well to order soon as Gold Maeng Da is a rare strain that involves an intricate drying process. Most vendors cannot keep Gold Maeng Da in stock for long.

Canopy’s Chimes Ginger Chews are a tasty fave that’s long-lasting and good for relieving the nausea often associated with kratom overdose. It’s a good thing to have on hand if you plan on burning kratom more than once daily and in excess of 5 grams.

One of my only problems with Canopy Botanicals is that a lot of their products are stuff that you can get at any neighborhood pharmacy or vitamin store, such as Chamomile or Earl Grey Tea.

That being said, the prices are very reasonable for all of these things and they do have a lot of stuff you won’t find at a local grocer or drugstore. You’d be hard-pressed to find a Duane Reade that stocks Himilayan Pink Sea Salt or Oolong Tea.

PRICES

As I said before, their prices are very good, even conspicuously so. $3.50 is ridiculously low for 25 grams of kratom powder. I’ve warned our readers about cheap vendors in the past. The old maxim “you get what you pay for” remains true; you don’t get something for nothing in this life and if you do, chances are, something’s fishy about it.

Considering that their enhanced blend sells for just $8, one has to wonder if this is really quality kratom, am I right?

Well, I can’t speak for all of their strains, but after some research (the proverbial taste test, as it were), I’d have to say that most of their kratom teas are unremarkable. Their Red Maeng Da was weaker than weak, belying the sedating effects common of red vein kratom. In short, after burning 4 grams, I felt absolutely nothing.

Of course, this can come down to personal tolerance as well as other mitigating factors. As with any kratom strain, one must consider their body weight, mindset and other physiological factors when dosing. Everyone’s different when it comes to kratom, just as everyone is different when it comes to just about everything.

SHIPPING & CUSTOMER SERVICE

Customers are given an option between First Class or Priority Shipping via USPS. The turnaround time on orders is 24 hours, but a window of 48 hours can be expected when product is in high demand (see: kratom ban scare, salmonella scare, et al.).

Packages generally arrive within 2-3 business days, depending upon where customers are located. All orders come with tracking numbers for customer convenience.

Whereas most legit kratom vendors offer money back guarantees and a promise to deliver a full refund on damaged packages, Canopy Botanicals is firm about all sales being final. This is another red flag that makes them more than a little suspect.

When one dials their customer service phone number, an automated message comes on, saying, “Hello, state your name and Google Voice will try to connect you.” Yet another red flag as robots are bad. Just ask John Connor and the Resistance.

CONSUMER REPUTATION

What are people saying about Canopy Botanicals?

One thing that is definitely in Canopy’s favor is the favor they have curried with kratom enthusiasts. Customers have posted glowing reviews of their kratom strains on Reddit, calling them an “awesome vendor.” One user said that Alan, the owner of the company, is “the best over there.”

Another satisfied customer called their product top notch, writing, “…they even listen to my shipping comment…Great company and they always leave a handwritten thank you. It’s the little things in life.”

CANOPY BOTANICALS COUPON CODE

This vendor regularly offers a 10% discount to return customers and have sent out other deals in the past. First-time customers can email them to ask about beginner discounts and samplers at: info@canopybotanicals.com.

BOTTOM LINE

While some of their products seem to be far from potent, many customers swear by their kratom powders. In short, I would give this vendor 2 ½ stars out of 4 and urge customers to order from them with caution. It’s always a good idea to start small by ordering a sample and seeing how it goes from there.
