Mt Lotz Kratom: An Example of What NOT To Do When Selling Kratom

By now most kratom connoisseurs are more than familiar with the ways in which their favorite plant has been stigmatized. The mainstream media has dedicated a fair amount of time to demonizing the mitragyna speciosa tree and its psychoactive properties.

Making matters worse are the countless headshops and smoke shops that persist in stocking shady kratom brands, some of which contain foul synthetic chemicals that are dangerous to one’s health.

One such proprietor is the notorious Mt Lotz, LLC. Located in Cape Coral, FL, Mt Lotz has been coming under fire for at least four years. So what is this unsuspecting small-time business doing to muck it up for the rest of us?

Let’s take a closer look.

Mt Lotz, LLC is a smoke shop on SE 46th Lane in Cape Coral, Florida. They have been slammed by customers on the Better Business Bureau’s website where locals have written in, urging them to stop selling their kratom products.

The problem with Mt Lotz Kratom is a problem that is associated with all too many neighborhood tobacco shops. The proprietors seem to do little research into the wholesalers they deal with and end up stocking bogus products with suspect ingredients.

Smoke shop kratom brands often come in fancy packaging with an emphasis on design rather than detail. Consequently, the average consumer ends up buying something that has no proper labeling or instructions.

What’s worse because of the utter lack of regulation these shoddy companies are not mandated to provide information about where there product was sourced from nor whether it was lab tested for purity. The result is invariably an adulterated product containing contaminants or synthetic additives.

Those of you who have followed the news in the last few years will undoubtedly know that kratom is legal in the state of Florida. However, kratom is not legal in Sarasota County where lawmakers passed a 2014 ordinance that made it a crime to purchase or possess kratom.

Those with a yen for geography will quickly realize Mt Lotz’s close proximity to Sarasota County. Although Cape Coral is a hamlet in Lee County it is Sarasota County-adjacent. Located just a one hour and 20 minutes outside of Sarasota County it has naturally drawn scrutiny because of its location.

Whether Lee County legislators have studied Sarasota County’s example is anybody’s guess, but one thing they have to have paid attention to is the Mt Lotz Kratom situation from back in 2016.

Some of you may remember that 2016 was the year that the DEA was pushing for a kratom ban. It was only after they opened the subject up to public comment and received a massive amount of feedback from citizens that they reconsidered this ban.

Before that reconsideration could occur Mt Lotz sound themselves on the FDA’s import red list. Now…why is that?

As I mentioned earlier smoke shops are not the most trustworthy source for kratom powder. They often sell brands like OPMS that are manufactured by shadowy wholesalers who care little about purity and even less about the safety of those who burn kratom for its effects.

As noted on the Mt Lotz Kratom Better Business Bureau web page Mt Lotz has stocked brands like Tianna which one user calls “garbage and a fake money scheme of an alternate kratom supplementation.”

They have also stocked kratom powder without proper packaging or labeling. This is what gets smoke shops and, indeed, the entire kratom industry in hot water. Every time a proprietor sells bunk product it affects the reputation of kratom as a whole.

If you live in a place like Cape Coral and you don’t want to deal with shady locals like James Morrisette—Mt Lotz’s managing member—or Christopher Mitchell—Mt Lotz’s general manager then you can do yourself a favor and order kratom online.

Granted, there are a lot of bad actors and bogus brands polluting the World Wide Web, but you’ll be able to sniff out the legit ones with a few clicks of a button. There are loads of kratom vendor reviews online and even more public comments about the best kratom brands on sites like Reddit and I Love Kratom.

Here’s a short list of some of our faves in the biz:

  • MitraGaia
  • Pharmacy Dropout
  • Coastline Kratom
  • Kats Botanicals

Each of these kratom vendors has proven time and time again that they are the real deal. Their consumer reputations precede them and their commitment to quality has kept their heads above water in these increasingly rocky times.

Remember, the most trusted kratom vendors offer a bunch of different shipping and payment options. They also offer detailed information about their kratom strains. If a company isn’t willing to disclose info about where their kratom comes from then they’re probably not a company worth doing business with.

Don’t get dicked around by dirty headshop grifters or garbage brands. Go with the best and get some rest. Be safe, be smart and be well.
