Most people would agree that Texas takes crime seriously…even if their laws sometimes seem quite silly. From mandating that criminals give their prospective victims 24 hours notice of the crime that is to be committed to limiting drinkers to three sips of beer while standing, the Lone Star State has a rich history of constructing laws around all sorts of activities (e.g. emission of “obnoxious odors” while in an elevator is strictly prohibited).

Given their predilection for passing bizarre and oft-extreme legislation, one would imagine that Texas lawmakers would have rigid policies in place when it comes to kratom. As it turns out, however, Texas is but one of many states that don’t really have a problem with this potent Ayurvedic herb.

As you’ll see in the following post, the Lone Star State provides some surprising leniency where its citizens’ rights are concerned. It’s a place that preserves and protects those citizens’ 2nd and 8th amendment rights…just don’t go farting up an elevator or milking someone else’s cow, pal!

For those who don’t already know, kratom is derived from the leaves of Mitragyna speciosa, large evergreen trees indigenous to Southeast Asia. Mitragyna speciosa belongs to the coffee family of plants and offers users a pick-me-up that’s not dissimilar to that of a strong cup of Joe.

Kratom has been used for centuries in its native land where farmers and laborers have long regarded it as a folk medicine. This Ayurvedic herb grows in the tropical environs of Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea and beyond.

Westerners have discovered kratom thanks to a vast array of American kratom vendors who import fresh kratom powder from overseas and sell it via e-commerce sites. In places where kratom is legal, it can typically be found in smoke shops, dispensaries, gas stations and headshops.

Here in the U.S., the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has not approved kratom for medicinal use. On the contrary, they refute the purported benefits of kratom use and have urged the public to avoid consumption.

The effects of kratom use are varied and debatable, but most users agree that it restores them to good humor and provides hours of general well-being. Common methods of ingestion include chewing kratom leaves, brewing kratom tea or vaping kratom extract.

Heck no! As it happens kratom is legal everywhere across the State of Texas and has been for some time. As of this writing, no legislation has ever been proposed to prohibit, restrict or otherwise regulate the sale, possession or consumption of kratom by the general public.

Not only is this good news for Texans but it’s also good news for tourists with a jones for Javanica‘s brother plant. Texas has more large metropolitan areas than just about anywhere else on God’s green earth.

To date, no statutes have been proposed and no laws have been passed limiting or outlawing the Mitragyna speciosa leaves or the alkaloids therein. Mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine are as accepted in the Lone Star State as toe-tapping music and good eats.

Whether you call Austin, Dallas, Houston or San Antonio your personal stomping ground, the presence of kratom will be writ large across smoke shop signs, kava lounges and then some. As you probably already know, the kratom industry has become as big as a Brahma bull with sales inching toward the $1 billion mark.

Its popularity extends to Texas as much as to any other state in America. Here you’ll find everything from kratom powder and kratom capsules to kratom extract, homemade kratom soap and kratom resin. Some headshop owners have even begun carrying kratom shots and kratom chewing gum.

This is a question that is damn near impossible to answer as politicians change their minds more than they change their underwear. New laws are proposed all the time and representatives from both sides of the political aisle have been known to sponsor bills related to a kratom ban in the past.

As of right now, kratom and its alkaloids remain unregulated and legal to buy, sell and consume in the state of Texas. However, these laws could change at any time. Thus far, public comment and advocacy efforts by the AKA (American Kratom Association) have managed to convince the government to postpone a once-imminent kratom ban.

With any luck this will continue to be the case, but it is imperative that mitra enthusiasts do their part to support kratom legality. Follow #AKA to find out how you can make your voice heard. If you’ve got money to burn, consider throwing some financial support behind the AKA to ensure that they can continue to reach lawmakers across the United States.

I’m not gonna bore you with my usual tirade about why smoke shops are the worst, but I will tell you this. Ordering kratom online is infinitely safer, smarter and more secure than buying it from a tobacconist.

Tobacco shop owners are often completely unaware of the origins of their kratom strains. Since most of them source their kratom powder from third party wholesale distributors, there is no way for them to know where it came from, whether it was properly tested for potential contaminants or if it’s, indeed, as fresh as the packaging would suggest.

By contrast, the top kratom suppliers on the Internet pride themselves on being GMP compliant, submitting each batch of product to third party labs and disclosing lab results for their customers to see. These same vendors invariably offer full refunds on products that don’t meet consumer standards and provide free sampler packs to first-time buyers.

If you want premium grade mitra tea at an affordable price, you need look no further than this short list of the best kratom vendors online:
