OPMS KRATOM REVIEW: IS THEIR KRATOM REALLY KRATOM?
OPMs Kratom is a company out of Atlanta, Georgia that sells multiple kratom strains online. The company makes several bold claims up front, particularly with regard to what OPMS stands for.
Their logo sports the slogan Optimized Plant Mediated Solutions ™, but OPMS ® Kratom is billed as Organically Purified Mitragyna Speciosa. Mitragyna speciosa is, of course, the name of the plant from which the kratom leaves are derived.
What exactly “organically purified” means is anyone's guess and, for all intent and purposes, it seems like little more than catchy, gimmicky advertising geared toward the granola-eating, gluten-free freegan crowd.
A lot of kratom vendors are shrewd hucksters, modern day snake oil salesmen who shamelessly pander to gullible hipsters and latter day hippies who don't know any better.
But before I judge OPMS Kratom so harshly, let's examine their value based on product variety, product availability, price points, customer service, shipping and convenience. Afterwards, we will take a keen look at what people are saying about OPMS as well so as to better understand their reputation among the online nootropic community.
OPMS KRATOM PRODUCTS
OPMS Kratom offer three products (not exactly a windfall for customers who like to get all of their natural supplements in one place).
They sell OPMs Silver (Maeng Da) Extract, OPMS Gold Extract (in capsule form) and OPMS Liquid. The latter is by far the most popular among online consumers with pictures of it cropping up all over social media and Google Images, to say nothing of numerous kratom-related websites.
OPMS Liquid is a highly concentrated kratom shot that comes in an eight milliliter bottle and OPMS sells kratom liquid in bulk. Customers can order an entire box containing 45 bottles of OPMS Liquid.
OPMS Gold Capsules come in 2 count, 3 count or 5 count packages and each capsule is emblazoned with their purple leaf emblem so that you can distinguish it from other kratom capsules.
On their product page, OPMS Kratom say that OPMS Gold Capsules are the pinnacle of Kratom products...but they do not say why and there is no special process or ingredient listed that would corroborate this statement in any way.
Finally, there is OPMs Silver Capsules or Powder which comes in three unique blends: Maeng Da, Thai and Malay “Special Reserve.” It is unclear whether “Special Reserve” is just a product name or if it reflects limited edition or limited availability.
OPMs Silver is said to be their best-selling Kratom product, but there is no way of confirming this since their website features no customer forum or customer testimonial page.
Perhaps most perplexing of all is the following: Earlier I said that I would endeavor to explore this company's value (or lack thereof) based on several factors including price point. Well, as I write this I have come to find that I am unable to fulfill this promise as their website does not disclose pricing.
There are no prices listed on any of the three products mentioned above. One must assume that they keep this close to the chest so as to lure newcomers in who are looking for competitive prices.
More confusing is their disclaimer page which lists Choice Organics of Los Angeles, CA as their distributor.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
Despite the seemingly shady nature of the company's website, some customers have sounded very pleased with their products. One user at drugs-forum.com wrote a glowing review of their OPMs Liquid and then later raved about their pills.
“I haven't bothered experimenting with them [Kratom extract pills] much since I thought the liquid was the best,” he writes. “I tried the pills again a couple weeks ago and found out they were much stronger than the liquid, making them the strongest Kratom product I've encountered.”
However, another user responded to this user's experiences, warning of the possibility of other chemicals being responsible for the kratom extract's intensity of effects.
“I think that someone needs to send a packet of these in for lab testing, “ he writes. “to rule out any of the opiate type research chemicals that are available having been included.
“I have read plenty of alkaloid isolate reviews and I have also experimented with a few myself, none of them came close to the feeling of opiates in the way that Krypton Kratom did, and that turned out to be the research chemical O-desmethyltramadol.”
Others on Reddit have voiced their concern that OPMs kratom may contain a synthetic opioid, writing, “It almost feels like Hydrocodone or Oxycodone...I am a little suspicious of it, maybe it might be a synthetic opioid? I have a high kratom tolerance but this tincture always exceeds my expectations.”
One user responded by saying, “There has been some talk on here lately about OPMS possibly spiking their kratom. There was a comment reply on a very old post claiming opms put a synthetic tramadol in their product and that they were shut down for awhile.
“I also found a bluelight discussion claiming that someone tested positive for methadone on multiple drug tests after only taking OPMS.”
However, not everyone believes this, and one user kind of debunked it by claiming that he or she has taken 87 15-panel drug tests and wearing a drug-detecting sweat patch the entire time, never once testing positive for any illicit substances.
Nevertheless, a myriad of users are urging people to avoid this vendor and their products with one Redditor posting a warning that alleges that they “popped for MDVP, Methylone and a synthetic cannabinoid after taking it. He adds, “My morphine levels were at 1000ng/mL...Either OPMS is really using synthetics or there was a hell of a mix up at the labs.”
In an update to this post, this user reports that the MDVP and methylone were false positives, but is quick to add that he or she still tested positive for Morphine.
Other users have called the company “scumbags” and lamented that it is companies like OPMS that are getting kratom banned.
There are other questionable things about this company's methods as well, such as their claim that they implement a process that uses cold pressurized water instead of the typical hot water or alcohol-based solvent.
Reviews have also not been kind when it comes to this brand. While some of them note the popularity of the brand, others complain about the high cost of their kratom tincture and the “perceived” effects of the OPMS extract.
Others have advised against using OPMS Kratom due to the cost as well as the higher risk of developing a Kratom tolerance.
In summary, OPMs Kratom does not seem like a worthy choice for the casual Kratom user nor do they appear to be a company in good standing with the public.
Before using their service, our readers are urged to do their own independent research to determine whether they want to take a chance on this company and its questionable product line. Be safe, be smart and be well.
